Admission Process and Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Requirements

  • At least 17 years old by 31st December 2026.
  • Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotech, and English.
  • Minimum 50% PCB aggregate (General category).
  • Valid NEET-UG qualifying score.

The Counseling Process

As a Deemed University, the college’s management and NRI seats are allotted centrally by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). Its government-quota seats are allotted separately, by KEA — see below.

  • Step 1: Register on the official MCC portal.
  • Step 2: During choice filling, select Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.
  • Step 3: Seats are allocated across Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy rounds based on All India Rank.
  • Step 4: Document verification, medical fitness checks, and fee payment at the campus. For the general category, a NEET score of 620 – 630 is typically expected.

The Karnataka Government-Quota Route (KEA)

Being a deemed university does not mean every seat here goes through MCC. Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore also surrenders a government quota to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), filled through Karnataka state counselling at the KEA-notified government fee. The difference in cost runs to tens of lakhs, so it is worth knowing this route exists before you commit to a management seat.

RouteCounselling authorityAnnual tuition
Government quotaKEA — Karnataka state counselling₹1,53,571
Management / NRIMCC — deemed counsellingas in the fee table above

In Round 1 of KEA’s 2025 counselling, 49 government-quota seats were allotted at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. Eligibility for Karnataka state counselling is set by KEA and generally requires Karnataka domicile together with specific schooling conditions — read KEA’s eligibility clauses for the year you apply.

No consultant can obtain one of these seats for you. They are allotted purely on NEET-UG rank through KEA’s published seat matrix. Anyone who offers to arrange one for a fee is describing something that does not exist.

Hospital Infrastructure and Massive Clinical Exposure

From a consultancy perspective, the biggest advantage of choosing KMC Mangalore is its multi-hospital training model. Unlike KMC Manipal, which relies on a single massive private hospital, KMC Mangalore is associated with a network of both private and government hospitals.

The Multi-Hospital Training Advantage

KMC Mangalore is uniquely tied up with three major government hospitals: Government Wenlock Hospital, the Regional Advanced Pediatric Care Centre (RAPCC), and Lady Goschen Hospital. In addition, students train at the private KMC Hospital, Attavar with its 500-bed capacity.

Combined, this provides an incredible teaching bed capacity of over 1,500 to 1,800 beds. Government hospitals offer free or highly subsidized treatment and receive a massive daily inflow of patients from across Karnataka and North Kerala — meaning students examine and interact with an enormous volume of patients, observing tropical diseases, trauma cases, and complex maternal conditions rarely seen in purely private setups.

Campus Facilities and Student Life

Unlike a closed university town, KMC Mangalore offers a dispersed, city-integrated campus experience. After the first year, academic departments, hospitals, and hostels are spread across different parts of Mangalore city.

The Library and Infrastructure

Central library covering 4,100 sq. m. across three fully air-conditioned floors. Seating for over 750 students. Houses more than 30,000 medical books and 150+ journal subscriptions.

Accommodation and Connectivity

Highly secure hostels for men and women with curfew typically around 10 PM. Mangalore is a major metropolitan city with its own international airport — far better connectivity than Manipal. Easy access to malls, entertainment centers, and beautiful coastal beaches.

Consultancy Verdict: Why Choose KMC Mangalore?

For students who prioritize raw, high-volume clinical practice:

  1. Patient Diversity: Association with government hospitals ensures students do not face restrictions while examining patients — a common issue in premium private hospitals.
  2. Global Alumni Network: Sharing the MAHE brand with Manipal, graduates have an equally high success rate in clearing USMLE and PLAB.
  3. City Life and Connectivity: Mangalore offers the perks of a developed city — direct flights, diverse food, and vibrant urban entertainment, making the stressful medical journey much more manageable.

For medical aspirants looking to build impenetrable clinical confidence while securing a globally recognized degree, KMC Mangalore is undoubtedly one of the best investments in 2026.
